When she learns that he and his daughter haven't spoken in years, Jen decides to help them reconcile . . . but things don't go exactly as she planned. Jennifer is longing for stability in her life . . . but she soon discovers that life isn't stagnant; it's always changing. Once again, the mortuary is a setting for lessons of laughter, love, and life.

She In a Better Place The Fairlawn Series Volume 3 Angela Hunt 9781542469562 Books

With no idea what delights awaited me, I started reading Angela's first book, free of charge. After that, I was hooked and there was no stopping as each one became more exciting than the precious one. Her characters became so real to me that I began to see them as my own family and friends.

Tears and laughter were common as I moved through this enthralling three-part tale of a Florida funeral home owner, Jen Graham and her two adorable sons. I got so totally involved that I took my new kindle to bed and listened as my husband slept on. When a particular sad part moved to me tears, I had to get up and weep in the living room and likewise her humor was so delightful that I broke into huge gales of laughter waking him up often after mid-night. It didn't get any less emotional as I began her third and final book, "She's in a better place". There are so many lovable characters and I wondered "who" was in a better place, Jen, Joella or Kirsten. You see, you will just have to read them to find out as I don't believe in a "spoiler alert" review. These three books are so well written that I find it hard to put it into words and quite frankly, I just can't. It is not surprising that Mrs. Hunt wins awards by the buckets for her fiction novels. It would take me months to read my way through her 80 novels and it is doubtful that I will but so far, my money is well spent and I don't regret the investment. In a year or so, I will find myself going back to her books to revisit my old friends at the Fairlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Dora, FL. Hope you will too.

She In a Better Place The Fairlawn Series Volume 3 Angela Hunt 9781542469562 Books Reviews

After now reading the series I can honestly say these stories will make you laugh, cry, smile and thankful for wonderful writing. I learned lots about funeral prep and found I really appreciate people who serve others this way. Great series, I highly recommend but keep tissue handy.
I couldn't put the book down I was so involved in the story. I felt like I
was right there in the story and part of the family. I highly recommend this book and the entire series but be sure to have the kleenex ready because you are going to need it.
I really love reading Angela Hunt's books! The characters are always well defined, the stories are fun to follow. This series had really likable characters (as is usually the case) and each of the three books were an enjoyable read. Angela really did her homework or was already incredibly knowledgeable on the whole funeral business and embalming in particular. She handled that part of the stories with her Southern Grace and with honor. Please give them a read, I rather doubt you'll be disappointed!
As in the previous two books, there is much laughter and tears by me the reader. I wanted the book to continue on but will just have to use my own imagination for the good things that could happen to this wonderful family.
This book continues the story of Fairlawn, Jen, Daniel, Gerald, Joelle and the other families of Mt. Dora. The book once again brought laughter and tears. It was that believable and that good. Gerald's daughter comes to town when she hears he isn't well, and we constantly expect a joyful reconciliation, but it's very hard for Kirsten to see that her father has always loved her and wants the best for her. I highly recommend this book.
Be prepared to be wowed! This is the third and last in this series. I read book 2 (She Always Wore Red), which is wonderful and full of unexpected surprises...a long lost half sister and a tragedy among other surprises. This final chapter in the Fairlawn series is absolutely 5 stars, and then some. Jen has come full circle in her personal and professional life. Gerald, her teacher, mentor and dear friend, plays the staring role in this last book. Add in the budding romance with attorney, Daniel, and Gerald's estranged daughter and grand daughter, along with long-suffering Joella, kept me up late reading. The sweet Christian theme is very relevant and heart stirring. Grab a hanky and be ready for a roller coaster ride!
All three books of the series were interesting and really different from the books usually written by the women writers I have read. Some readers may find the business of Fairlawn a bit more than they bargained for; however, as a minister I have have spent many hours in such places. I might add, not the "prep-room".

I had to suspend my disbelief a bit to fully enjoy the story. Each book had a main story and told it well. You will not only see the ministry of Fairlawn taking place, but will likely feel the love of the characters, Gerald and Jen and the boys.

Don't miss the Red Hat Clubs, which were the rage for the over-fifty women in the days of the writing of these books. You will enjoy the "living funeral."

One criticism is the seeming rush to end book three.
